LocalBreak

A more personal forecast, shaped by local knowledge.

  1. Locals understand their break better than a generic forecast engine.

Local Break is a surf forecast informed by the surfer. Save the breaks you actually surf, add what you notice, and the engine learns how forecasted conditions translate at your spot.

  2. A small crew can see even more.

Invite up to five people you trust. Conditions your crew reports add more local context to the forecast for your shared break.

  3. Keep local knowledge local.

Your saved breaks and reports are never published publicly. If you share a Scout check, only your invited crew can see it. It won’t inform a public forecast or reveal your spot’s location. Nothing you report or save is accessible to the public, ever.

  4. A forecast shaped by local knowledge.

Local Break starts with a trusted forecast, then uses eligible observations to learn how conditions translate at your break. The result is a forecast that feels more personal to the place you actually surf.

FAQ

How much does Local Break cost?

The core app is free. Local Break+ is one paid plan: $5 monthly, $40 yearly, or $80 once for lifetime access through the first 100 Founding Local spots. These are planned U.S. launch prices. Final localized terms will appear in the App Store.

What is Local Break?

Local Break is an iPhone surf forecast focused on the exact New Jersey break you save as home.

Why is it only available in New Jersey?

Starting with one coastline lets us learn local patterns carefully before expanding.

How is it different from other surf forecast apps?

You choose the exact location, even if it is not a listed break. Eligible local observations can help the forecast learn how the baseline translates there, while your saved break and reports stay personal.

How do Scout Reports improve the forecast?

Eligible physical conditions can help Local Break compare provider-backed estimates with what reached the beach. The forecast changes only after a supported pattern forms.

Is my information private?

Your saved breaks and reports are not published publicly. Journal details and notes stay private. You choose whether to share a Scout check with active members of your crew.

Can I share a break with friends?

Yes. A break owner can invite up to five friends. Active crew members can see the shared break, roster, and Scout checks deliberately shared with the crew.

Is Local Break available for Android?

Not yet. The first release is built for iPhone.

Does Local Break replace checking the ocean or official warnings?

No. Forecasts are guidance. Always check conditions, local authorities, and official weather and marine warnings.

Always local

A better forecast.
Kept personal.

Your saved breaks, journal details, and notes are never published publicly. If you share a Scout check, it goes only to active members of that crew. Eligible conditions can still help improve the forecast for that break without exposing the private entry behind them.
